dont stress about it. Unless you're a competition shooter dialing up and down constantly, and in low light, you dont really need it.

A work around from the old days was to find nylon washers of correct size and thickness and place them at the bottom of the dial , not exactly precise but sorta close enough to zero .

Yeahhhh, I've got the vx2 an it has a dial turret on it, with 13 moa or so on my kimber 708... It's absolutely awesome to 450m-500m pending the load.

So I wanted another while the price was Low. Never see that price again here.
RRP 800, paid 550.

Will maybe look at the Prevails that are about $280-300 regularly an the drop tones are up to 350-380 now days....
Old stock an good BDC reticle... Perfect for a bitta Hold over 👌

I don't shoot past 350 unless on Gongs

On a VX-Freedom without CDS, there's a "resettable index ring". It's a small metal ring underneath the finger turret. It looks like a thin washer with a notch cut out of it.

Once you're zero'd in, move that index ring (use a small screwdriver) to align the notch with the zero indicator on the turret.

It's that basic. There aren't any set screws to loosen, or anything else to do.

You can see the notch in the index ring, just to the left of the red smudge in the picture:

Mate, interestong.
What does that do?

Here's a photo of mine- it had a tab on one of the "washer" looking rings below the turret... It didn't seem to move? Made from light aluminium , looks easy to bend 😆 - is that what you refer too??

Here's some photos.

Under the cap has a notch aswell but nothing seems to touch it.

on your scope it is an exposed turret, the indexing ring is on scope that have caps, the way it works is when you have a zero you move the indexing ring to line up the notch with the zero on the turret and that way if you change the elevation you have a visual of where you were previously. But if you have to turn the turret a few turn then you are screwed cause you have to remember how many rotations and in which direction… something I wouldn’t be able to remember lol so that is why I don’t twirl turrets hahaha 😂

Ahhhh I see, similar to the old Vari X I have, it was a thin silver washer with numbers that rotated....
So something like that - I see the Fella above mentioned on VX WITHOUT cds...

I'm not so sure I'm on love with the vx free CDS 😆😂

Maybe should of bought 2 Burris prevails instead 🤷🫣

i see the issue would be if the dial is accidentally Twisted-- where The Shooter does not know Which Direction it twisted.....or if Shooter "reset" to 0 but...THE WRONG direction..... Now being somewhere in the vicinity of 12 MOA OUT.....

That make sense

The index ring only gives you a visual reference.

The index ring I mentioned only gives you a visual reference.

For your turret, check out this video. At 4:40, he explains how to set the zero reference. As far as I know, it only gives you a visual reference. There's no zero stop.

I asked....

Hi in Australia I purchase a 3-9x40 VX freedom, with cds, there is No Zero stop. If I order a CDS dial with my requirements of Load, will the CDS turret have a zero stop feature ? (Grey button) ?
Or does VX freedom 3-9x,40 not have a zero stop at all?"

Reply from Leupold.....

Hi Rhys,

The Customized CDS dial will include a zero stop, not a zero lock (the silver button). It's an earlier design of CDS.

Thank You!

Sean"

If you order a dial for it, the one they send will have a zero stop. If not the button, it will have the little pressed in bead that the old style CDS dials used. Likely the old style with the pressed in bead. I checked back through my pics and the one my buddy got me to order for his vx-freedom came with that style. They work just as good.
