VX2 or Freedom...which one

I personally own a VX-Freedom and I think it's an amazing scope, not even just for the price. It's overall good enough for 90% of recreational shooters and hunters up to 200 meters. That being said, if you can nab a VX-2, do it. It has a few more features and it looks nicer.

Can`t go wrong with either one, both have excellent lifetime no hassele warranty just in case. I have both and would just toss a coin.

I own at least 6 Leupolds - but all of the ones on my "using" rifles are the older M8 series. I did buy 3 of the 3-9x40 from Prophet River during 2019 - I was astonished by them!!! One went on a .223 Rem PC-10, one on a heavy barrel .223 Rem Rem 700 and one went on a Remington 783 in 243 Win. And a VX-3i is here waiting to be installed on a 7mm Weatherby Mag. I suspect that the actual difference between the older VX-2 and the new VX-Freedom will be way more "theoretical" than "real" for most of us - so far as I understand the glass and coating are the same; most of us do not come close to "pushing" any scope right to the limits of its ability. That said, two of the scope here have been through Korth before I bought them, so the "warranty" is a non-issue, so far as I am concerned. I agree with previous poster - both / either would be lifetime of no hassle, for most of us.

The trick is the cost - when the VX-Freedom first came available, that was about $300 or so delivered to your door. Not sure that you can get them like that any more? So, people willing to pay more, and the price has crept up to the levels that some people want for used VX-2. And then all sorts of confusion with VX-II, Vari-X II and so on...
