VX2 or VX3 Leupold?

Hi there

I am trying to decide between a Leupold 4-12x50mm Leupold VX2 and a 4.5-14x50mm VX3 for my new Steyr Tactical Elite.

Magnification aside, will I see a difference between the two in terms of clarity and quality? Is the 3 worth spending the extra $$$ on?

Application is mainly longer range hunting and plinking/target on a rural property that I own.

Thanks!

I just got a VX3 leupy, and am very happy with it, I went with the 30 mm tube but only a 40 mm objective, in a 6.5 -20. One of the features that I like the best is the side focus paralax adjustment, It certainly makes the scope more user friendly, and I find it does not require me to lose sight of the target while fiddling with it. I don't think that the vx2 line has this feature. When I compared the two side by side with my lower priced simmons in almost exactly the same magnification I found that the clarity of image was most noticeably better and brighter and more clear around the edges. I picked the fine duplex reticle and am happy with that.

You should take a look at the new leupy with the front bell sculpted so that you can put a big 50 plus mm objective in low rings. The only drawback to that system is the $$$$$. Still I think I might look into one of those when I next feel like rewarding myself for being a good boy.

cheers
