I just bought vz 24 from trade ex( I didn't get it yet should be in tomorrow :D ) and I'm wanting to do some hunting if its accurate enough, I was wondering what the point of aim would approximately be at 50,100,150,200 m since its lowest setting is 300.

Also I hear that they require a 6 o'clock hold so how does that work exactly?

And finally is there any tips other then hand loads and a scope to get the most accuracy out of it as I plan to shoot targets at 300+m. If I can't get it that accurate then that's alright I got a k31 and a clamp on scope mount and 480 gp11 to ;).

Oh And a bit of history About it would be appreciated to. Thanks

Different ammo would affect your point of aim. go out on the range and try it out. Just google 6 o'clock hold its much easier when you see it.

GP11 is excellent ammo from what I heard. I really can't tell you anymore since I don't have any experience with the 7.5x55

6 oclock hold and see where the VZ prints. There's alot of variations in loads you can get, you have to find what workd best for your particular rifle.
The commercially loaded stuff (federal, winchester/remington) is loaded way underpowered, it'll shoot lower usually.

If you're having problems hitting a target at under 300 yards with your Vz. 24, your K31 will potentially solve that problem for you as the lowest sight setting on the rifle is 100. However, one problem that may arise is that I doubt you can hunt with GP11. I'm not 100% sure on that, someone here will know. If you can't, you'll need to get some soft point 7.5x55 which isn't what I would call cheap.

K31 is just for target I couldn't find any sp I don't have any .308 sp bullets either so I'm Going to use the Mauser. Il be using 196 gr sellier and bellot at2600 fps where would it print aprox at 100 and 200 with sights at 300 I don't have much ammo so I rather not waiste it finding out

Hang onto your empties.

A LOT of people reload 8x57; I know of half a dozen in this area.

MILITARY ammo gave 2880 ft-sec with a 154. The 196 bullet originally was for anti-Tank use. S&B ammo is VERY hot.

Make sure your action screws are tight or you can wreck the stock.

Nice rifles...

In that time frame, Germany wasn't supposed to be manufacturing arms. They set up shop in Czechoslovakia. German designed, czech manufactured Mausers are some of the nicest. No rush/hurry in production, and have a reputation for being some of the finest finished Mausers.

My father came from Germany in '57. He is very "pro" German products, and his gunsmith was a German too. Still acquired a VZ.

Regarding the accuracy, these are almost 100 years old now, and have been in civilian hands for most of that time. No telling how it's fared until you shoot it. I doubt you'll be disappointed, but the best way to tell how it shoots will be to actually pull it's trigger. There are a few different things that can be done to improve a rifle's performance (and a shooter's) but why bother until you've given it a good test drive.

Unfortunately I jumped the gun a bit, I quite reading after it said estimated arrival Thursday if I would of read 2 more words I would have seen it was Thursday the 11 :( still waiting anxiously
