Morning

I am looking for some advice.
I own a VZ.52/57 Sniper rifle and I see an identical model being sold from a Canadian website in the $3,000 range. Is that even in the ballpark of a realistic price? The reason I am asking is I am wondering if I should increase the insured value of it as part of my home insurance.

Thanks in advance

I find the prices on collector source out to lunch on a few rifles.

But always insure for more than its worth.

lol, Yes I have noticed that Collectors source is really out there. But have seen another on EE that was also asking that. Not sure what it sold for or even if it sold. Currently insured for what I bought it for, which was a lot lower than that.

Was just kind of surprised to see that price come up twice. Is it a hail mary? To see if someone will pay that price.

I was just looking at this website. http://tinyurl.com/qgta9rl

In it, it states.

Vz52/57 sniper rifle
"An extremely rare piece there are reported to be 8 or less of these scope rail equipped Vz52/57 snipers in the US. There is also "reportedly" 1 example of a Vz52 in 7.62x45 w/a rail. These snipers came into Canada & were found in 1 crate w/all the standard guns."

Can anyone speak to the accuracy of this information?

Disclosure: I, too, own a Vz 52/57 sniper with the IR scope.

Vz 52/57 snipers are infrequent enough that it's hard to gauge the market price. That being said, I've made a point of contacting the sellers of any Vz 52/57 snipers that I see posted... that amounts to two so far. The last one, which sold about a year ago, without scope, went for a confirmed $2500.

You're unlikely to easily sell the rifle quickly for that kind of price as there's probably a very limited number of collectors who would be interested, but that's where I'd set the value. You do have a very rare and interesting rifle.

Thanks Stick for the great information.

I had no plans of selling the rifle. But that is the information I was looking for. I will up the insurance to the $3,000 territory.
