I saw this picture on the local gunsmiths facebook page. I think I'm in love.

Anybody tried this? I know the Zhukov is for AK's, I wonder what it would take to mod it to fit a VZ?

Been done by several CGNers already. There is a thread about it that talks about how to do it in more than a way too. I would post the link but I'm on my phone

I did a forum search but came up empty. I'll try again.

am I the only one that really prefers a full stock when shooting 762x39?

I'm with you, but I prefer full stocks for mostly everything. I don't like the side folders, and I don't like this stock. But the foregrip looks great. Gives the whole rifle a bit of an FNC vibe.

Just keep in mind OP, it requires permanent mods to the gun and the hand guard. If you choose to install it, it's on for good. That why I sold my magpul AK stuff.

You are wrong man! The mods are little to the gun, many other handguard will fit after the mods, but of course not the original!

What hand guards will fit with the cap cut off? You have to cut the hand guard cap off the barrel to fit the Zhukov. I know there is a way to McGyver the Zhukov hand guard to fit with cutting the hand guard cap off, but then your messing with the integrity of the hand guard, thus weakening it.

Plus you still have to cut the hand guard in places to make it fit. I personally wouldn't trust its integrity after cutting it. It's great for pictures, but will it really stand up to run in the gun hard?

If you look at that thread I posted in Post #5 (I think) if you get up to around page 20 there's another guy who just cut a few notches into the mount for the hand guard and it looks like it fit like a glove. maybe a bit lower than it's designed to on an AK, but it looks as though there is a way to get this thing on without any permanent mods to the rifle, if you spend some more time with the dremel and keep a steady hand.

Yeah I saw that. As I mentioned in my post, thats a pretty decent amount of McGyver work required. I know it can be done, but if installed contrary to manufacturers specification, I truly question the integrity of the handguard. Looks great for pics and all, but how does it hold up to hard use on the range compared to something that isnt all cut up and was actually designed for the VZ/CZ.

Thats why I sold my Zuhkov kit.....if it were a 50$ handguard, I would have cut the hell out of it, but for 150$, I didnt want to take my chances. Plus the "Alpha" handguard on my CZ is truly bomb proof solid.

Best of luck to those installing the Zuhkov.

Did anyone try with a 11.75" barrel or with the short handguards instead of the long ones? Judging by the pictures I think a long handguard would end just about at the front sight on a 11.75" barreled Vz.58. This might look pretty cool, especially with an AKS-74U type muzzle device.
