VZ 58 Barrel Replacement?

Hi guys,

Been thinking of getting a CSA Non-restricted VZ.58 lately in .223... I know that they do not have a chrome lined barrel for the non-res in .223 yet, can a VZ.58 barrel be changed if worn out? Is there anyone in Canada selling the barrels?

Also, can the .223 rifle chamber/handle .556?

Don't worry about wearing out the barrel. The life span of a chrome lined barrel vs non is not much more. Once your barrel is worn out, trade it to that tribe in Africa that's got all those AK's and SKS for some un-cut diamonds or a rhino horn or something. Getting the rifle re-barreled will probably cost the amount the gun is worth. The barrels life span is probably 8000 - 10,000 rounds. The barrel will probably suffer from throat erosion (gas tap enlarges over time) before the barrel is actually worn out.

I don't know of anyone who sells barrels for the Vz 58 but Wolverine Supply or even e-mailing CSA would be a good start to find out if someone does.

Yes, the rifle handles and chambers .223 and 5.56.

Thanks for the info, only reason I ask is because I'm shooting a few thousand rounds of .223 a year... I guess it's not like an AR where the barrel is easily changed.

Its a damn shame we cant WELD a 4 inch muzzle brake onto the gun and make restricted = non restricted. stupid gun laws dont factor in the break as length...even if welded.

damn shame


would be an easy innexpensive fix and it would take all those EVIL restricted guns "off the streets" once and for all (after converted to the high-cuddle factor NR Cz858)
 
if u can get ahold of a barrel for the vz 58 changing the barrel isnt at all costly I now have a few barrels for our replacement parts bins for our vz 58's.

Barrel life is really dependant on use how much per use shooting 1000rnds in a day is more wear then 1000rnds over 10months.... and maitenance you cant really just say its a certain value from people who have actually show they're out its all over the place
 
saying a .223 will handle 5.56 just fine is wrong and could be very dangerous....But I haven't compared the CIP pressure rating..
Some barrels could handle both, but is your life worth that risk?

wholesale has some brand new vz58s for $1010.00 in .223...not very helpful I know.....
