Mine came covered in some kind of dust or dirt. Should it be removed and how? A normal cleaning?

just rub/wipe it down if you use cleaners the plastic grips may lighten in colour

I just finished washing up a Romanian AIM bayonet and it's metal scabboard.I like using hot water and dish detergent.Scrub well and if there is a good plastic bristle brush around,that helps too.Dry off and give a light coat of oil...R..
