Does anyone elses VZ-58 not like a lot of grease or oil? I was firing mine when the internals were all greased up and then all of a sudden on the second round nothing when I pulled the trigger. I could move the action all I wanted but still nothing. I had to clear it, pry the top cover open in the field with a flat head screw driver, wipe it all down and the bottom most rod on the top cover was bent so I had to bend it back with a pair of pliers and the gun worked like a charm after that. Talk about reliable! I also buried it in the sand took it out and it shot with no failures! Now I just have to remember not to grease it up a lot. Is it only my vz that doesnt like grease or oil??

I stick to oil and a little frog lube on the bold carier. And that's about it... No need for it to be swimming in lube or oil, I never had an issue yet and have.many many rounds down range

I use a little grease where bolt slides on receiver. Why did you have to pry top cover off with a screwdriver? I have 4 vz58's and never had to do that. Are you sure your assembling the rifle correctly? The top cover is a little tricky to put on you need to make sure it's down all the way on both sides when reassembling. You should check out a few YouTube vids on stripping the vz58

^^^^ this , as soon as I read "VZ58 & screwdriver". Definitely something more going on than over lubing.

I think the OP issue is that the VZ was cocked and would not fire, so he had to use a screwdriver to remove the cover with the striker cocked back. That would be the only reason for a screwdriver, needing to remove the top cover with the stryker ready to fire.

Always pull the trigger before removing the top cover.

This is what happened, I could not un-#### the rifle even with a trigger pull. I tried everything to uncock it and nothing worked. No damage has been done to the rifle and it runs like a charm!
