I had purchased a restricted CZ 858 Tactical 4V years ago with the factory folding stock.
Having purchased a full stock 2V at the same time - I was able to compare the two.

While I never had problems hitting what I was aiming at - the folder never really floated my boat for the following reasons.

1. Stock width (I Beam) was too narrow and I could never get a good cheek weld height wise. Adding pipe insulation allowed me to get a proper cheek rest
to align the sights. However, it looked like crap. Replacing insulation with para cord restored the looks - but not the better ergonomics the insulation provided.
2. I am a bigger guy and the stocks were just too short for my frame. Looked at butt cuff add-ons - but they looked like crap.
3. Butt pad was made of stamped sheet metal and during rapid fire strings (as rapid as you can get with only 5 rounds) I found the stock was always sliding around my shoulders.
4. Had to work hard to get a good sight picture when using the folding stocks.

I finally broke down and purchased a new CZ factory over-molded stock for the VZ-58 as a Birthday present to myself.

While not cheap ($148.00) before taxes - I consider it a good investment for the following reasons:

1. The longer length of the over-molded stock fits me perfectly.
2. The stock is asymmetrical - meaning they molded more material on the left side to build up the stock to provide for a proper cheek weld. You have to look closely in order to be able to tell the difference.
3. The extra material on the top of the stock provides for perfect alignment with either the stock sights or the Bushnell TR25 that I am co-witnessing with them.
4. Plastic is a lot nicer on your cheek than metal on a cold day.
5. Folding mechanism locks up tight in the extended position - feels like you are using a solid stock.
6. Bonus - maintains the factory sling loop on the left side.
7. I like the triangular reinforcement - looks better then the clubfoot of the original factory and it adds a solid feel to the stock.

the stock metal folding is a little short for many of us , on mine i had weld 2 nut and after that i have bolted some rubber pad on it ,

for me that work well but i was tempted to put the one you buy but it a little expensive for me but if you are now able to enjoy your rifles it better for you !

The wooden stocks do look nice.
Had the same issue between folder and wooden stocks choice (Price is within 10.00 of each other).
Went with folder as I had already invested in Dlask bottom hand guard , NEA upper hand guard, and FAB pistol grip.
If I was to do it over (and the wooden stocks were available at that time) I probably would go for the wooden stocks as they are not as common.

And as I mentioned earlier - they do look nice....:)

The folder is not too short, your stance is wrong. A buddy of mine is 6'6" and has zero issues with the folder. In fact he cut his fixed stock down by about 2.5 inches. He also runs his AR fully collapsed without issue. The difference is his stance. Square up to the rifle and the issue isn't one.

^^ very true ^^. I'm 6'2 and find the factory folder to be perfect length.

Glad it works for you.
Guess I should have included a "your mileage may vary" disclaimer.

Been to tactical rifle classes and know which stance to use.
Used to compete using service rifles.

Serious traffic accident 8 years ago resulted in my having to relearn how to shoot my rifles.
Existing folder is too short for me. New longer over-molded version solves a bunch of problems as indicated by my original post.

Cheers,

Ah, it makes a lot more sense now. Special circumstances require special solutions. ;)
