Hey guys,

My VZ 58 has been having a few problems on the range. I've been using S&B and Norinco, all non corrosive ammo through the rifle.
The rifle has jammed numerous times when chambering around.....the round only feeds partially and then gets stuck in the chamber in an angled position. I am positive that it does this with at least 2 magazines, and am fairly sure it does it with the others.

The rounds will even jam when chambering the first round out of the magazine.

Any suggestions??

check if you dont have some build up in the chamber coming from the coating of the cartridge , check the receiver were the lucking lug goes in if it mushroomed you now have a paperweight

Is it new? It'll break in. I wouldn't be too worried. Try some lacquer coated ammo it seems to be a little slicker.

When I was using s&b soft points, huge chunks of lead would get shaved off in the feeding process and cause me problems. Check your action for shavings maybe?

put a bit of polishing paste or even emery cloth on a dowel just under the size of your chamber (not your bore) and spin either by hand or using a drill (at a very low speed) - if there is grease build up, or even dirt from running a brush through your bore (and falling into your chamber) it should remove it - the heat of firing your gun may have "baked" on a lacquer inside your chamber and just using a brush may not remove it

This might seem obvious, but dont ride the charging handle.

Also, did you thouroughly run a chamber brush in it with a cleaner? Who knows what the previous guy fired in it.

Thirdly, now that you used grease clean it really well, I never ever use grease in my 858, just about a dozen drops of hoppes all over the bolt assemblies for a really thin film, and the bolt guide rails, thats it. Honestly it would even function without any lube at all, that bolt is supposed to SLAM that round in really really hard, I mean HARD!. If the bolt is not doing that maybe your rails are misaligned, or a weak spring.

Finally use fmj ammo, cheap mfs or barnaul is fine, ive used soft points in mine and it was fine, but i did notice lead in my chamber when i used a chamber brush.

try all that, let me me know.

Soaking your chamber with good solvent then scrubbing it out with a brush should also clear out stuborn lacquer. I've used a kids toothrush and it worked well. the only feeding problems ive had from my vz58 were with bad magazines. The new production ones from wolverine just dont work for me. Surplus military ones work amazing though. The csa made ones that came with the rifle are good too. Make sure your feed lips are smooth and uniform on all your mags. Any rough spots, burs, or bends in them can seriously effect how they operate. If you know anybody with known good magazines i would borrow one and see if it works better. Also give your gun a good deep clean and oiling. Especially through the action. Another thing that may help is slowly operating the bolt by hand while feeling and watching if theres any spots it hangs up while trying to chamber a round.

Look at the bottom of the bolt. Make sure the tiny piece that strips rounds from mag is still there and it is not broken or chipped.
Cheers

Like this by any chance, If you got warranty get it fixed through NS. They will put all new parts in your gun and headspace it along with cleaning up the receiver. The VZ should run even gunked up with 1000 rounds on it with no issues. If it is gunked up acetone is my go to for a bad situation, break cleaner is just as good.

I guess people aren't understanding the OP's questions but these seem the moft helpful.

I replaced my recoil and striker springs and it help me out.
