Id love to be able to use the 10 round handgun mags in my VZ... but the only mag adapters I see are either for the 858 or they are in .223 for the VZ 58. Is there a VZ 58 mag adpater for 7.62X39 that uses the 10 round handgun mags?

Just curious where id find these and how much it woudl cost to have one installed.

Some people have had success, also have read some really bad reviews on them. I won't get it done until it's perfected, but that's just me. I believe Wolverine is selling the 858's machined (at an additional cost) for the pistol mag adapter...

I have seen many of these on 858's... but not on a VZ 58... which is what i have. After reading wolverines site it appears the CAN be installed on a VZ... But im going to email them anyway, just to see how much it would cost if I shipped it to them and had them do the install and ship it back. I realize there are reports of the mags not feeding well, but there are also lots of reports of no problems at all. I figure, i can still go back to my factory mags if I choose to later on. But before I spend $80 on 2 more 5/30's I want to see about this mod and 10 round mags.

VZ58=CZ858. 858 is a version of... VZ58. Same rifle, aftermarket furniture fit, everything. FSN, CSA, CZ VZ58's are almost identical.

I have read some bad reviews so this isn't worth it to me.

Actually, there are differences. Ive been told the CZ Mags wont fit in the VZ receiver because of the small differences. I knew the rest of the parts all fit but since the mags are different (or so ive been told) I wondered if the mag adapter would be an issue. I sent an email to wolverine with all my concerns. just waiting to hear back.

While I do like the idea of 10 legal rounds and I do like the look of the shorter mags and mag adapter, I only want to do this if I can still choose to go back to the stock mags at any time.

I had the wolverine cz858 with B&T AR mag adapter, had serious feed problems with the rifle and returned the adapter and mags I bought for in store credit. Run 100 percent with factory mags, #### our laws suck, just give us normal capaicty mags already.

.

I have a feeling the mags not working is more so due to manufacturing differences/tolerances/mass production rather than an incompatibility. They are all the same basic rifle. I might be wrong but aren't the 858's made from NOS surplus vz58 parts and a new receiver?

858's are military, not sure if they are surplus or new manufacture or not. They arent nearly as nicely finished as the VZ58 which is a brand new manufactured gun with excellent quality standards and finishing.

What I'm saying is, vz58 is the original military designation. They are all vz58's, at the end if the day. Whether is a czh2003, cz858, fsn, they are all vz58's. CSA chose to go with the vz58 designation, but minor differences and finishes doesn't change the fact they are all vz58's. The CSA isn't any more of a vz than an 858 because of the name.

You are wrong. My buddy's CZ858 mags fit in my FSN VZ58 and vice versa... again, they're all the same rifle. Same with everything else. Look inside, exactly the same. 858 is a 58, same sh!t. Cosmetics are different, setup is the same.

Im just going by what ive read... its all I have to go by. I dont have access to both, just the information posted here. Seemed to come from a reliable source that one mag may not fit correctly in the other rifle. Thats what I read. The point, is that I want to verify that the mag adapter will fit correctly in a VZ 58... which is what the gun I own is called. I dont care where the name came from. One version is called a CZ 858, one is called a VZ 58. They are listed differently and sold as different rifles and ive read there MAY be slight differences in the receiver...

Ill just wait till wolverine replys and lets me know. they do have both in hand and know exactly what they are talking about.

Can you tell us what company made your VZ58 or do we have to guess?

FSN and CZ are made out of surplus parts, CZ's non restricted barrel is new (for Canadian market). CSA is supposed to have brand new receivers... other parts are from, guess where. There are slight differences, but my FSN and my buddy's CZ858 NR and CZ858 15.5" restricted's mags fit in mine and vice versa. Is the CSA's magwell different than the others? I doubt it. I know the FSN and CZ are the same, only cosmetic differences. It is common knowledge that 858/58's are made of mostly surplus parts (read it in the Red Rifle section, somewhere...).

It would help if you told us which VZ58 you have. Should be on your rifle somewhere.

Anyone have an 858 and a CSA VZ58? Mags interchangeable?

I can fit my 5/30 mag's into my CSA or CZ 858 without issue, mag's are interchangeable. The only problem i have is with my cut down 5 round mag which fits my CZ858 but will not insert fully into my CSA carbine. May just be the fact there's a bit more coating of paint on the 5 rounder.Going to sand it off and see if it fits any better in the CSA.

Thanks, Striker. So, to the OP, 3 of the 4 makers of this rifle have interchangeable mags. The other version is quite rare. It is the same model rifle.

Mine is brand new, not sure what model other than VZ58... Made by CSA with the non restricted 19 inch barrel. Im only going by what ive heard, and now im hearing differently, which is good enough for me. mags labled for the VZ58 are harder to find than those labeled for the CZ 858.

This is the thread that made me wonder if they were different.

B&T Magwell adapter

There were ALOT of comments from wolverine about wondering if it would fit both and there are many pictures of different receivers. Now I know the milling they would do will work for either gun. So thats good. Ive read and watched alot of reviews on the adapters. Those who like it, love it. Those who dont, HATE it. It seems to me the 7.62X39 mags feed much better and many of the problems were with .223
