Thought it would be good to do a thread of all the various VZ 58 muzzle devices. I believe someone did one of these threads a few years back in Black Rifle forum but I can't find it.

I'm quite happy that a lot of the innovation in this area has been from Canadian manufacturers. If I've missed some of the devices or if the actual manufacturers want to chime in on the designs that would be great and I'll edit this first post with their info or photos. I stole all the pics from this forum and web sites, I'm too lazy to dump them into my own photo bucket account.

NEA:
NEA:Heavy Brake - A three baffle design with three ports at the top of the brake to help compensate muzzle flip.

NEA:Hybrid Brake - This is an interesting design produced to limit muzzle flash and help to reduce recoil. A single baffle design with helical flutes.

NEA Krink - I don't know much about this device as I've never seen the internals. Looks good though!

NEIT ARMS:Crusader Brake: Another three Baffle Design. The baffles seem to have been cut into and angle or cup configuration and the baffles are cut at the top leading me to believe it does offer some compensation for muzzle flip as well as recoil reduction.

DLASK:XB2 - This would be a great option for those that have short barrelled rifles or a sensative to muzzle blast as it redirects it downrange. Also provides some flash suppression and increases the dwell time of the gas system.

DLASK:VZ 01 Flash Hider - a Helical prong design. Works very well at suppressing flash.

DLASK:VZ 58/CZ 858 AKM Style Brake - AFAIK it's the smallest muzzle attachment available for the 58 and is quite an effective compensator.

^^^Thanks shogun and curtton - added it to the list.

I know there are some VZ brakes available through some web sites in Europe? Does anyone have any links so I can pull pics and descriptions?

here are some. Pics removed. Description of brakes from top to bottom.

1.The top is the FSN model.

2.The middle is made by Arsenal CZ.

3.Bottom is made by a famous gunsmith. Name Zendl. There is a left hand or a right hand model. The creator I believe is the one who created the cz cadet kit for the pistols. Very talented. It is the most enticing to me because of the maker.

4.Designed for the Military. AW is listed as the manufacturer.

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase the Czech Military Brake??? I'm not concerned with hiding the flash or reducing recoil. Main purpose is to reduce/eliminate muzzle flip/rise. It's for a non restricted 858 with 18.5" barrel. Thanks!

When I bought my 858 it came with an AKM-Style brake, however it's a bit different than the one pictured above.

The extra ring milled around the middle is I think the only difference, but it's different none-the-less.
And yes, overcompensation is still a major issue with this on the 858.
