VZ 58 rear sight issue- elevator sliding around

Hi all.
I have a VZ58 and the rear sight slide piece ( I guess that would be the elevator) does not stay in place when moved from it's home position. Any position other than at the very back and it slides right back to the home position and I have to reset it every time I pill the trigger.

I have slid it back and forth and it doesnt seem to want to catch on any of the positions.

Help would be appreciated.
 
Sat down tonight and decided to look into exactly what was going on with the stupid elevator. Tips the sight off and pulled the elevator apart and put it back together and vwalla! It works and hold tightly into position. No more sliding back and forth on its own. Must have been just off a touch but now it's works great.
 
If I might add a question, I made the mistake of moving my elevator without noting it's factory position. For the sight to be in the universal position, should the elevator be covering the "U" or receded all the way rearward?
