I had my VZ-58 out for the first time and I noticed the sights are off. When I have the rear sight slider set to 400 yards it is bang on at 100 yards. Is this simply a matter of tweaking the front sight post? Do I need a special tool for this?

It also seems to be shooting about 4 inches to the right at 100 yards, how to I adjust for this as well?

Or do my sighting problems have more to do with the ammo; I was using the surplus (Czech?) stuff from P&D.

It would appear that not all of the VZ -58 or 858's that came in had the sight adjustment tool.

To Zero your rifle, place your sight at the 100m mark, shoot at 25m on a 4' tall target. I find it usefull to put the target up backwards and draw a thick black line in the middle left to right to use as an aiming mark. You will need to screw your front sight in or clockwise try about 3 or 4 full turns. this should get you on the center up and down. There is a tool available to push the front sight left or right. Or you can use a hammer and brass punch.
As you said you were shooting to the right, you will need to push your front sight to the right, not very much. Once your zeroed at 25m take her out to 100m to confirm. You might have to tweek your sight adjustments a wee bit but you should be on sight line now.
