Howdy,

I am a brand new father of a VZ 58 in 7.62x39 cal. It came with two 30 round pinned to five magazines. To pick up the modified 5 round mag is $45. The Robinson Armament 7.62x39 5 round pistol mags are only $25. CSA is selling a polymer adapter that they say are for the .223. Does anyone have any experience with this mod and will it work with 7.62x39 cal?

Might wanna try the red rifle forum. Got a feeling that the .223 adapter won't work with 7.62 though. Would probably be easier to get the RobArms 7.62 mags and the B&T 7.62 magwell adapter.

No it doesnt work. Search the Red Rifle forum.
There is a letter in there from CSA stating that it doesnt work for x39.
 
There are two different Cz 858 one is in 223 and the others in 7.62 obviously 223 won't work with 762 and vice versa. The magwell adapter for the 7.62 will use the Robinson arms 10 round pistol mags making it legal to shoot but there is no last round bolt hold open. The reason the 5 round mags are quite expensive is because they are brand new and are not refurbished. I hope this helps
 
But mine has a last round hold open device that works (for now). I haven't even tested it at the range yet. It's that new. I have found entries from people that say it works. New gun from Kelly's and a new insert from the sporting goods. $150 test coming next Tuesday or Wednesday.
 
I have the polymer mag well device on my CSA 7.5" 7.62x39. So far it has worked fine, Ive put around 200 rounds through it on 3 range trips. A few times the bolt has closed on an empty mag, but generally it holds it open when empty.
