I recently acquired a dewat VZ 61 in .32acp. Its of Czech mfr stamped "she" "61" with serial number "L 7###". Anybody know what year this s/n range was produced? Seems like the letter the s/n starts with might corelate with a manufacturing year but I'm not sure.

Any tips?

How is stamping the actual year on it supposed to be some sort of secret dating method?

Or is my Sarc meter off?

Wasn't sure how to take that one either. I don't know the Czech marking practices. Its not unreasonable to assume that a 61 stamped on a VZ 61 would mean model, not year of mfr. Anyway I have seen pictures of scorpions with s\n' s starting with "Y", and "N". Just wondering if that letter had any significants beyond a increment to the 4 numbers.

There are also pictures out there of the .380 version ( the vz64) stamped " 64"... Coincidence?
Always neat to know the how and why.
