Hey all,

Jus picked up a couple sets of VZ grips for my Colt 1911's. Before I get into the job I was looking to see if there ere any tips or tricks that the collective body could pass along. I know that I will need to replace the grip screw bushings with shorter ones as the grips are much thinner that the original ones. Someone did mention that the grip screw bushings were staked but I am not sure about that. Is there an easy way to tell and what is the best way around this? Also does anyone have a source for new bushings here in Canada? If not I have found what I need at Brownells and may just have to get them from there. Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated.

I got the slim bushings from Freedom Ventures.
I ordered THIN grips and found I needed to install the short bushings. If had I known, I could have ordered the bushings/screws along with the grips. I ended up getting the bushings from Freedom Ventures. The bushings were NOT staked on my STI. Just use a proper fitting screwdriver or you may strip the heads. Oh, and the bushings did have a thread locking compound on them but I had no difficulty in removing them. I also use blue Loctite (#243 oil resistant) on the new bushings.
