Long, sad, story, short the family of an acquaintance has asked me to help as their dad is on his last days of a brain tumor. To be fair to all I know little on milsurp and it is for a good cause as I normally don't get stumped for info easily.

A VZ52/57 two mags, looks to be unfired, unrefurbed and complete as I can tell, no oil bottle etc but gun and fittings look complete. If fired, it was little and well cared for. Has scope mount and small Ruko tube 6" long 3/4" dia. Glass is not a high dollar item, I presume. No pics at the moment but condition wise it looks impressive to me for my limited knowledge. 7.62x39 I again assume.

Any info and value would be appreciated by myself and this family

Mount looks to be OEM not a bubba rig. One thing I found interesting is the forestock cover is a bakelite/plastic, grey in colour. Figured the gun had some value but the above estimate is surprising and when the time comes the family will be pleased.

Thanks

I don’t think any of them came with scope mounts, but I could be mistaken.
If it’s been bubba’d I can’t see it coming near the premium that clean originals seem to demand these days ($800-1000).
Iirc, these came into the market in the late 80’s / early 90’s and were selling in the low $200s as-new-in-box at that time.

After a second look it appears the mount is a weaver base D&T into the dust cover/top of the receiver. Saving grace is it was done professionally, and would take the appropriate plugs and be virtually unnoticeable as whoever did the install was bright enough to put masking tape on the base bottom to prevent marring. Not as pristine as originally thought but a full box of ammo has been accounted for so the plot thickens as to condition.

Thanks for the input
