Hello, I have a 7.62x39 vz58 that is in need of a barrel as the last one is destroyed due to corrosive ammo and lack of cleaning knowledge. I am trying to source a new non-restricted barrel but cant seem to find any. If anyone has any leads they would be greatly appreciated.

Ouch. $500? Thats like half the cost of the gun. I better clean mine religiously then.

How bad was your clean jobs? Just want to get an idea how far i am from that. Lessons learned.

Im using hot water after every range day poured down the barrel a d piston, then cleaned with a bore snake, then some cleaner/oil combo spray, then snake down the bore 2 more times to remove excess oil/cleaner.

I just clean my rifle once a year, and I've been shooting corrosive ammo for 10 years. Never had any issues 100 yards and under, but accuracy sucks beyond that. What's the particular problem?

You guys might be fine. I had a corrosive casing get stuck in the chamber and couldn't get it out for a month also my gun smith said my barrel wasn't chrome lined which is a little fishy considering it was a CSA vz58. He said if it was truly chrome lined I wouldn't of had these issues. I cleaned after every use using hops 9, bore snake and a ram rod. Although I feel it might have forgotten to clean the specific area where the casing sits the previous time I shot it.

Your cleaning method won't do anything to stop corrosion from the salts in the primers of surplus ammo. No9 - as wonderful as it is - simply can't dissolve those salts. You need to use very hot water to dissolve the salt prior to using a solvent.

Just curious how bad it is. Some guy traded me a only SKS that was rusted to ####. It cleaned up real nice after scrubbing the hell outta the barrel with CLP 2-3 times. It was was a import from before the magazine limit. Old, old old, turned out to shoot awesome.
