Now buy a colt/RRA/LMT and stick on a gas piston upper with heavy barrel, ambi everything, quad rail etc etc and see where the XCR gets competitive...
I am not aware any of the three company have you mentioned make a 7.62 X 39 model that is non restricted in Canada

I've got both and love both, but they are two different animals:
VZ is for close and personal (even if it can touch a 8' gong at 200 yards). With a TSR 25 and a brake, it is real fun with multiple targets at 25m or less.
Trigger is terrible. Ergo..what ergo?
I work on it with a dremel and a hammer and often use surplus ammo to clean the rust...
It lacks 10 rounders for sure.
The XCR is way heavier but reach further with much better accuracy (relatively);2-3 MOA. XCR has a bull barrel vs thin barrel for the VZ.
Even with iron I was hitting gongs at 500 yards. Now with a NF 2.5-10 it's not really a challenge anymore. Trigger is awesome.
The XCR is really comfortable to shoot, ergonomics a notch above the AR family. 10 rounders are on the way.
Only issue so far: it doesn't like very old ammo (one crate out of eleven), I think it is due to a tight chamber.
Cleaning time is about the same but I'm not the best judge...
Reliability: well, for some reason I trust the VZ more than the XCR with no real ground to defend my opinion.
Fun factor: XCR for sure. VZ is nice and does the job but that's it when the XCR is a very fun rifle on top of that.
