VZ58 / CZ 858 mags: black painted ones vs grey surplus?

Wondering if anybody knows the story behind these black VZ58 mags - are they new or just painted surplus? I can't seem to find them online (the one below came with this CSA VZ58).

I've always had the surplus grey ones that came in the pig skin case, but these are so much more aesthetically pleasing. Any ideas who stocks them?

pretty sure those are surplus mags, refinished by CSA. here in the US you can get them from czechpoint

personally, I like the grey surplus mags more than these black ones. my regular grey ones are smooth as butter (in part because they actually are covered with grease inside. cosmolene?) the black ones are raspy and stagger a bit when you push down the follower. no problems when firing with them though

Kelly's Sporting Goods stocks Vz mags from CSA, but they aren't painted black. I emailed them asking if they were CSA or Cz, they said they get them from CSA, but don't know beyond that. They may be Cz ones. My bet is they're refurbed Cz ones that they just didn't paint black. The Cz ones have given me a little issue, the ones from Kelly's, none at all. Be careful where you order from, the pinning on ones from certain vendors aren't as good as others IMO. The ones from Kelly's have pins like yours in the pic. I too prefer the black painted ones aesthetically.

I actually ordered some from Kelly's a couple days ago based off the same info you mentioned about them being from CSA. Good to know they feed well for you.
