Vz58 cz858 receiver replacement rail?

I have one of these top rails, got it from Corwin Arms, not sure if they have them coming in anymore or not.

No milling required, I did have to swap the springs over myself, that was a PITA. It mounts solid, and retains zero between cleanings, however the rifle is no longer field strippable without tools. You need allen keys to unscrew the bolts.

Be aware, that the sight sits kind of high, if you have an adjustable AR style stock plan to buy a riser for it or a whole new stock, unless you can stand a chin weld instead of a cheek weld when you shoulder the rifle. I had a sightmark reflex sight on mine to begin with, swapped it out with a Bushnell TRS-25 with no riser, it's better, but I'm still glad I had a stock with an adjustable cheek piece to swap out the original stock with. In the end, it doesn't matter if you buy the dust cover replacement or a side-mount, the sight will still sit high.

This is great info Kolik1! Thanks for all the input. Hmmm...totally forgot about the springs for the swap over. I'm using original wood furniture, and I want to keep it that way for it's classic look. I'm going to have to think about what direction to go. Swapping springs does not sound like fun, and this is my first rifle so I don't entirely trust myself. At least I know my options. Thanks!

It's just fiddly. Take your dust cover off and look at them. The one with the wire running through it was the painful one, a couple times literally. Ended up retaining the spring with a small screw driver in on hand while working the end of the wire up one coil at a time.

Not complicated, just fiddly to do. Someone probably has a better way to do it than what I did.

I would consider installing a reciever side rail and using a low mount. Get your receiver drilled and tapped (CSA are already so no gunsmithing needed).

The disadvantages are that it might be a tad heavier, and it does increase the bulk on the left side of the gun. But otherwise, the cheek weld should be the same as with a railed cover, and it's easily removable with the throw lever. Plus they're repeatable, so if you need to clean the rifle or just want to shoot iron sights for a bit, with the throw of a lever you can remove it, and when you put it back on it retains zero.
