I re-thought my Vz58 setup. Instead of the compact scope I am going with a upper hand-guard mounted red-dot. I sourced an early NEA railed hand-guard without the gaudy "North Eastern Arms" on the side. It fits tight on my CSA but needs a set screw where it attaches to the gas block. Easy fix.

Now for a red-dot.

What are good options for a co-witness. I want the lowest possible mounting so I don't have to raise the front sight post.

Opinions?

Trs-25 and NEA handguard. It's really a lower 1/3 cowitness. It's my favorite optic setup for vz58 and I've tried them all but railed dust cover. But can't see that being any different than the CSA low side mount. I don't really like my red dots that close to my eyes

Considered the Bushnell. Reviews seem good for range use... But I'm looking for something tough and will work in cold temps. Something I can take in the bush hunting if I choose to. (Always wanted to take the Vz58 hunting) I'm not a "range toy" guy. But, looks like the top choice.

Anyone use the Aimpoint micro or PRO on the NEA mount? Can it be lower 1/3 co-witness?

That rifle was beating bush last fall hunting. They're a tough optic. Mines taking quite a beating. I liked that one so much I have four of them now. Never a problem. The only range toys I have are restricteds. The rest get taken into the bush. They're on rifles that bounce around behind the seat in the truck and still hold zero. Not sure about extreme cold. Only gets to minus 15-20 here in Nova Scotia and that's not really hunting weather around here. Lol.

The only real bummer about the TRS25 in the bush is the flush style lenses that are hard to cap with scope covers. Not a fan of the bikini either but it works.
