vz58.net aluminum hanguards seem to be in stock

I will be getting a pair. I have been waiting for them since i bought my kit. Too bad i couldn't wait for the AR stock adapter, i bought the FAB AR folder from wolverine.

Not that expensive since they are probably milled from a block... Just the fact they aren't some cheesy plastic sold me.

I think there are better or at least more cost effective ways to mount an optic then that. In the end it still doesn't solve the constant removal of the optic for cleaning problem.

If it accurately returns to zero, removal is a moot point.

For me, the issue is the retention of iron sights while mounting the red dot. Being able to cowitness is preferable, IMO. The barrel mount is one option, a receiver sight of some sort with the RDS on the rear sight block is another. I'm not a fan of side mounts, especially since I have a left-side bolt handle now.

You could also use a setup like the pic below, mounting it at the rear of the receiver between the stock and receiver. The pictured sight is for shotguns.

This wouldrequire removal of stock to field strip rifle, a situation which would likely lead to wobbly stocks, IMO the stocks should be loc-tited in or at least reefed down very tight.

I've dicked around with this idea already and I'm not really sold. Especially with the factory stock its just too close to the eye for comfort. I thought about mounting a rear BUIS in this position but its just too close.
