VZ58 vs. CZ858

Milspec? Constructed according to Czech military specifications, ie length (does not apply here), twist, type of steel used, barrel thickness and dimentions in general, etc etc ..

ok, I knew what you meant about conforming to czech military spec's, but wouldn't this barrel not be considered milspec because of its length? I was under the impression that in order to conform to milspec, all the criteria have ot be met don't they?

Like my AR has a 16" heavy barrel. It is 5.56 nato, but since it doesn't have that machined section on the barrel for the grenade launcher, doesn't it mean my barrel is not milspec?

I have always been confused with "milspec" guns or parts, especially on ARs

Okay, that's helpful. Now which one is which? :)

VZ58 has the shorter barrel and is restricted.

CZ858 has the longer barrel and is non-restricted.

Other than that there may be some difference in the reciever. I remember some of the guys on the forum who bought the some of the first available VZ58's saying that an epoxy compound had been used to fill a portion of the reciever that was space for full auto components. My CZ858 does not have that.

"Milspec".... the most over-used, misunderstood term on the gun internet:rolleyes:
Maybe a close second to "tactical"

All "milspec" means to me is:
"Built by the lowest bidder, loose enough to fit any other weapon of the same design."
