W.W. Greener Damascus

I don't believe that a damascus "Farkiller" is of that value, a 20 ga. in that condition should draw $3000, although I wouldn't pay it. There are too many nice damascus Hammerguns out there for less money. The fact that damascus guns usually use 2 1/2" ammo with Black Powder shells reduces value on the market.

IMO, condition is the key consideration, here. I believe there's a market for damascus-barreled, 20 ga Greeners in this price range, but they'd have to be in MUCH better condition than this example.

This instance could be a poster boy for the "Buy the individual piece, not the maker's name" philosophy.

Condition is a factor as are BP only proof, extractors, cyl/cyl choking, short LOP and judging from the pictures it looks cast on which makes it suitable for a left hander. Bending the stock on a gun with a side safety presents some additional challenges.

I've been in looking for a Brit 20 gauge for a while now, and I like Greeners, but I certainly would not pay that for a gun in that configuration (short barrelled, short stocked).

I really don't think barrel composition comes into the equation any more, there are as many of us who buy & shoot pretty guns (damascus) as there are who buy & shoot fluid guns only.

On a side note, the 12 gage gun linked as a refereence/comparison, has in my opinion no original finish at all, that consistent colour on barrels and actions suggests hot/caustic blue to me.

On another side note, it is possible/likely that a customer/client of Patrick's has consigned the gun and dictated the price. There is after all no harm in asking.....

Claybuster, thier photos, although of great quality compared to most internet vendors all seem to suggest radical cast, I have asked about guns & requested extra photos & never has the stock dimension been what the photos suggest.
