I got a 204 in a savage model 12fv, bedded it in a take off low profile stock, could not get better than 1.5" groups with factory Hornady 32 or 40gr. loaded some 40gr balistic tips with IMR4895, H322 and 4198 and it shot no better. got some 32gr vmax thinking the twist wasnt right for 40's, still didnt shoot under 1.5". had some W748 around but wasnt keen on it because I've heard it is temp sensitive, loaded 10 noslers and 10 vmax and it shot a.7 group with the 40's and a .5 group with the 32's. To get to my question, has anybody been using 748 in the warm weather and had any pressure problems? And I have also heard it is kind of dirty.

Can't answer your question, but I have been using BL-C(2) with excellent results in my .204. I shot a .665 @100yds when it was freezing out and I wasn't wasting much time. I expect that will improve a little once I play around with the loads and shoot in some better weather.

Powder

In my 204 I have been using 27gr of varget, with 40gr B Tips at 100 meters it puts them all in the same hole. I have some 748, but the accuracy was so good with Varget, I never tried it. FS

Thanks for the replies, BLC2 and Varget were on my list of pwders to try but I have never used them before. do they meter well and do they burn fairly clean. I don't want to clean every 50 rounds.

Metering

I just load mine with an elec. scale 1 at a time, never metering. It is an extruder powder, would think they would have similar metering characteristics. I have a bore snake in 204, I don't think these are great copper foulers? FS
