I have a backyard full of rabbits, they have the dog going nuts. Anything I can do "legally" to get rib of them.

Do you need a Solar Powered Lazer Beamed guitar to shoot rabbits into space?
If there is any thing left you can try this recipe...Hasenpfeffer a traditional German stew made from marinated rabbit or hare, cut into stewing-meat sized pieces and braised with onions and a marinade made from wine and vinegar.
I'm not sure but Martha Stewart would be the place to look for the recipe though.

I was taught that rabbits in the summer are susceptible to diseases, and to only eat them in the colder months....any idea if this is true?

I've eaten them all year with no problems As long as the are cooked well. Tasted great

live trap them. I live trap all known pests as to not kill all the cats. What to use for bait.. i dont know. but KFC works great for everything. No one can resist the colonel.

...either we have a lot of PETA members on this site or according to half of the posts I have read in the Hunting Forum of CGN, apparently there is not a huntable species left in Canada that is edible...

Well fortunately I haven't listened to most of it and continue to be well fed by the many critters of our great country... I will take bunnies over fast food any day of the week, but I guess I am just weird that way...

Last set of garden rabbits ended up as a curry on basamati rice, awesome.

if your in the middle of town firing off the 30-30 may not be a great idea, also you will loose 1/4 of the rabbit, (cousin was hungry.........) in town live trap them, out of town grab mr .22lr or .17hmr and set up a lawn chair and wait and enjoy the stew,

Unfortunately I don't know any legal ways to solve your issue since wabbits are out of season.

Use arrows with blunts. Very little noise and no meat loss. Helps if arrows are fired using a bow with over 30 lbs. draw weight.

Since apparently they are out of season....live trap them and drop them off at the Mother in Law's place.

a few wire snares in the right spots will take care of your rabbit problems in a few nights. set them after dark, clean em out before day break....silent and deadly. Neighbours will never know....unless you catch their cats by mistake????
