Kinda neat, picked these up at the Edmonton Gun show on the Wk-end.. OH,,, THERE WAS A MINT, I MEAN MINT M95 IN 8X50R for $250. A DEAL... I did not have any cash, far as I know it did not sell??

Anyway back to the 8x56R Waffen stamped rounds. Even the cartridge head is Waffen Stamped..

I had some stripper clips for the 95, waffen/eagle acceptance stamped too. I was told a large amount of M-95 used by occupying army, the Wehrmacht, so a need to produce ammo was fulfilled. I would assume rear echelon units would use.

PS surplusrifle.com has a thread on M30 ammo markings in their forums.

"Eagle & swastika: Nazi Germany. If P635 is below it then it was made by Wollersdorf Patronenfabrik, Austria."

I have to assume the large red "S" on the box is to ensure it is matched to an "S" marked rifle, i.e. chambered in 8x56R not 8x50R

Austria was annexed by the Nazi's in March of 1938, so finding Nazi marked ammo from that year isn't unusual.

Knew that, I did'nt think it unusual, just neat. Could start to become unusual though as we get further from the time stamp of course. Tony the German had 4 boxes of 10 for $13 quid a box.

Did anyone on this forum go to the show, and happen to see the 8x50R styer I mentioned?
