Wait for the next Marlin 336 or buy a 30-30 from one of the competitors?

I think I've decided the next lever gun I need is a 30-30, and I would like a stainless steel and grey laminate rifle similar to the Marlin SBL model. I'm also looking for a short barrel (<18.5") and for it to have a side loading gate.

Should I wait for the Marlin which I assume will be out in 2023 or look at one of the others like Henry or Winchester? I'm not sure if they offer 30-30s in stainless or not.

If you're going to put a scope on it, Henry has the side gate on their stainless All Weather Lever Action in 30-30 & 45-70.

No scope, Winchester is lighter.

P.S. Forgot to say, I'm a Marlin fan. Just not sure when you are going to see the new Marlin 336 in country...

Personally I'm very interested in the Marlin. From the early reviews, things seem very positive. But when will we get them? IDk.

They added the 336 entry to the Frt several months ago now so I'm just speculating that will be the next model they roll out (ahead of the 1894).

I'd look for an older pre-safety 336 before buying new. Those old guns are cool.
A lot to be said for for the JM 336, But stainless steel and laminate...Yeah. There is a great crossbolt safety delete from Beartooth Mercantile that brings back that classic look again to the Marlin while still being able to use a half #### just like the good old days.

Personally I'd wait for a new Ruger built one. But I have a buddy who has the one your talking about and it's a fantastic firearm. You wouldn't be disappointed with it one bit. It's well built, shoots well and has held up well in weather.
