How long have you generally found it took for your registration papers to come in the mail after you bought a restricted pistol or rifle? It's only been two weeks but I really want to get out and shoot the m&p9 I just bought, have my ltatt etc. so I'm stuck playing the waiting game...

EDIT!!!! DO NOT DO WHAT I DID, I GOT LUCKY.

FOLLOW EVERYONE'S ADVICE AND JUST WAIT

Sometimes it has taken up to 3 weeks for me, but I have taken restricted firearms out to the range with just the transfer notification before, which when you buy a gun is all you will have if your transfer is approved prior to registration arriving in the mail.

The transfer notice DOES have all the same information that your registration has on it, an that notice is approved for transporting the firearm when accompanied by your STATT or LTATT.

This is to inform you that your application to register

the following firearm(s) has been processed. Your new

registration certificate(s) will be sent to you in a

separate envelope.

If the firearms are non-restricted, you may take

possession of them now.

If the firearms are restricted or prohibited, you are

required to obtain an Authorization to Transport to

move or transport the firearms from one place to

another. Please call 1 800 731-4000 for instructions on

how to apply for one.

If you applied to register other firearms than those

listed below, you will be informed of the decision with

respect to those firearms through a separate notice.

Not legal though, when I picked up my transfer at the CFO office they made it clear I could not transport the gun to a range without the reg paper

Another example of CFO's making the rules up as they go along and those rules being different from one province to another.....The NB CFO's office says that you can transport with the Transfer notice being your "proof of registration"

That's what I was told when I called the bc CFO to find out how long if I could use the notice to transfer while I wait for the registration to show up.

Hopefully it shows up today or early next week, if not I'll call the CFO back and nicely harass them about it...

Reg certificates are printed every Thursday and then mailed, so depending on when your transfer was approved and where you live you might have to wait an extra week. 2-3 weeks in total is sort of the normal range for me being in the Lower Mainland.

I agree with this.
My Ontario LTATT states that I must have the registration certificate in order to transport to my club.

Have updated my post with a message saying DO NOT DO WHAT I DID.

Gotta love our goofy firearms system and the lack of universal answers across the country.

Good news, it came in the mail today. Two weeks from the date I took possession of it, good to go now! Now I can go to the range and put some ammo through it.

Many guns, less than three days every time, sometimes just hours. Easy does it, stay calm, you will shoot!

I got the transfer notice in the mail for my latest purchase a week ago last Wednesday. Cert arrived today.... so, nine days after the transfer notice arrived.

How recent was this? I asked about 10 months ago and got told no by the NB CFO :/

June.........but let's remember who we're dealing with here. Just because they said it on the phone doesn't mean it's true.

We all know if you ask a government department the same question 3 different times you're apt to get 3 different answers.

I just ordered a new gun off canadaammo 6days ago. It's been 5 days so far just for the cfo's approval. We'll see how long it takes before They approve and send out the paperwork.

I just bought a couple as well and the CFO paperwork came quick for both and the Reg for 1 of them came quick as well but Im still waiting fot the 2nd Reg. If it doesn't come this week I will be putting in a call and see where it is I figure. Im always worried it got lost in the mail or something to that effect.

Hmm. Took less that 24 hours to get my approval. Have you called them with your reference number?
