I posted this question in another thread but thought I would just start a new topic instead. Do people usually wait for the ATT number, or generally just ship after confirmation as the number is more of a formality than anything? I think they could streamline the process and cut a few dollars by eliminating the ATT.

I just call in. If they say it's approved, that's good enough for me. I get a temporary ATT to take it to the post office.
I doubt that an illegal buyer will have the CFC in on a scam.
The moment the transfer is approved, that gun belongs to the new owner and I don't want it in my safe.
