Waiting patiently for my new Ruger

Hello All,

Well When I was back in NB the end of Oct. I went to the local gunshop to take a look at a Ruger #1H in 375 H&H that he had there the last time I was there. I had just sold my Ruger #1V to my father, he will use it much more than I will since I built my 260 Rem, so I decided I needed another #1 in a cartridge I did not have; ergo the 375 H&H. He had sold the beast about 2 weeks before I got there, my usual luck.

I was sitting there thinking and asked him what the price would be to bring in a Ruger #1H Stainless in 375 H&H. He asked me "What are you going to shoot with that?", my repsonse was "Anything I want.":) So I am now waiting for my new rifle to come in so I can pick it up at Christmas. My main problem is that my patience is being absorbed elsewhere, anybody with a girlfirend or wife knows what I am talking about, so I am now getting antsy to see it.

I have puchased a scope for it and I have even whipped up a generic load to shoot in it until I can really work with it. Now I sit here twittling my thumbs trying to wait patiently.

I thought I would tell you guys this to bring a smile to your face on a Friday afternoon.

Cheers,

Corey

Yeah, patience has not been one of my virtues until lately; ah well I look forward to the lloks on the family's facees when they see the size of the cartirdge. I have so many now that I just needed soemthing for a little shock value :).

I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10x40mm short mag here waiting to go; I got a good deal through Ian Robertson on it, it has a good eye relief, and I get the free bag. I may switch it onto the muzzleloader later and put a Zeiss Conquest on it, but Chrsitmas is upon us and I see a good tax return in ym future.

Cheers,

Corey

If I want something really good, I can die hard to wait. But In Canada a local gun store may take ages to get something that you want. I have this experience and is not fun at all. I think your scope bought too early.

I have never waited much longer than a time that was quoted to me from this place. This is part of a large order for Rugers that he has coming in, I placed it two days before he made the order. Since his Ruger selection is virtually non-existant right now, 10-22s are the only thing he has in stock in Ruger, he will be moving heaven and earth to get it in.

I am also itching to buy a .375 H&H. I was looking at the Ruger #1s in the Wholesale Sports Catalogue. I'm not sure if that's the rifle I want though. I'm thinking of maybe a Remington 700 XCR. I used to hunt with a #1 but I like the idea of having at least one follow-up shot in case there is more than one animal. Let us know when you get this amazing beast in and how well it shoots.

Well I got the beast on the 22nd, I have not had time to post really in a bit. The one I ended up with, after long drawn out process, was the one my father's buddy was drooling over at Wholesale in Edmunton on his way to NWT for moose.

I am impressed with it, but I have always been impressed with Ruger #1 rifles. It is a bit heavy, but that is what you want in a heavier recoiling rifle. I just played with it the day after I got it and it was shooting to about 1 1/2" @ 25 yards standing; that is good considering how much experience I have with standing shots.

It is heading for Gunco today to have the trigger worked over, it is a little inconsistant and heavy, and it is having a 1" Decelerator pad installed also.

I hope to really shoot it this weekend; I will post picks and a better opinion if I can.
