Bought this Perazzi two summers ago and never have figured out what kind of walnut this is? I know it’s a factory made stock for a TM9 model gun and was fitted to my TMS by the previous owner. I’m kind of thinking Turkish Walnut but possibly English or Circassian?

The mineral lines and honey colour make me think Turkish. Which, in walnut terms, is the same as Circassian. Which is the same species of walnut, Junglans Regia, as English and French. The differences in appearance come from soil, growing conditions and age of tree.

I would bet a significant amount of money it's not American Black, Juglans Nigra.

Was talking with a Perazzi dealer in South Dakota yesterday and he figures he has a few forends that will match up really closely to the stock. He’s going to send me some pics after the Xmas holidays. The gun still wears the original forend and it is some worn down. Finish is completely worn off where your thumb rests and the checkering is flat as a pancake. No cracks or missing pieces though. The old girl has seen some use but is still nice and tight and I just had a new locking block installed and a complete servicing done. The Smith sent it back with a note saying “see you in 150,000 rds”. I’ll be long dead before that day!! ;)
