So I have a batch of maybe 350-400 pieces of mixed 9mm brass. After tumbling I have some brass with pieces of media stuck in the bottom of the brass. Do I need to individually brush out a couple hundred pieces of brass or can I simply load them and shoot them and accept some inconsistency in performance? It will be my first batch of 9mm reloads and I have never had media stick like this in any of the other calibres I reload for.

Thanks,
Mark

Usually when I reload the 9mm brass the last of the Walnut media comes out when I de-prime them.(I tumble the brass with the dead primer in) Just my experience.

Do you tumble without the dead primer in the pocket?

stuck in the bottom... like in the flash hole? if so, dont deprime before tumblng.
If you mean they are stuck inside the case... was your brass wet? media wet?
I use walnuts all the time, the only issue I had was the time I tossed in some brass I had already done by accident and got walnut stuck in the flash hole. It will come out when you resize again, or use a small pin or something to push it out.

if its a big clump stuck in the case just put em in the tumbler for a second with no media in it it will knock the rest loose from the brass

a media seperator works well for this

I like clean primer pockets and am not worried about scratching my dies (has this ever even happened to anyone?) so I deprime first. A dental pick works great for getting media out of the flash hole. I only ever have half a dozen at most that get clogged. Hope that helps... Your question is lacking in information.

No, dead primer was still in place.

I have been adding some NuFinish polish lately and I think that caused the issue. I re-tumbled them after the media levelled off and there is still some stuck in the cases.

I will try that and see if it shakes loose. I thought re-tumbling them would do it, but no luck.

Thanks,

Too much polish or adding it too fast will be your problem then. I've had that a couple times too.

Just sit down in front of the TV and give each inside a quick twist with a screwdriver or something. Will work fine next go around.

Either as already said to much polish was added or it was not spread out when added. I use Nufinish and it only takes about a cap full to do the job. I add it in drops across the media before adding brass. Once added I turn the tumbler on for a few min to allow it to work through the media, then I add in the brass. +1 on using the screwdriver but if you have a kid handy it may be worth a couple of bucks to let them do it for you.

If what you are worried about is just a piece or two of media in the primer cup it's no big deal at all. Depriming will knock it into your dead primer catcher. I do it all the time.

If you have media stuck in the case outside the primer cup you have moisture issues.
