We just had these two arrive; a M77 250 Savage and a #1 6.5 Swede. I wasn't a fan a few years ago when I first saw this combination but I have to say I don't mind these. Any thoughts ? Like/ Dislike?

It's all about the finish on both the wood and the SS. Pity both don't have the same finish on the receivers and the barrels. Friggin' stocks sure are pretty. Oiled? Just curious.

Wood & SS

I kinda dig 'em. I recently restocked my trusty Stainless/Synthetic DM 700 7m/m RM in a walnut CDL stock and I like it. As functional as synthetic stocks are it's kinda hard to "warm up" to them even after 11 years. However I still prefer wood/blue to be honest.

Tho I prefer blue/black & solid wood (walnut), I like the stainless & solid wood, in fact have been considering doing a stainless Ruger #1 this way. --- John303. *** nice guns & pics.

I far prefer the traditional walnut & blue, but whatever floats your boat !

Ruger had a Mannlicher style walnut/stainless 10/22 that sold well, and Remingston's
stainless fluted 700CDL's seem popular with some.

Synthetic/stainless ? ... Tupperware belongs in the fridge, stainless is for sinks ! ;)

I have a couple wood stinless rigs. One ruger #1 and one remington cdl. I like 'em! Kimber also has a couple "new" models that are wood and stainless. I have a couple rifles with wood stock, blued actions and stainless bbl's, thats almost my fav looking set up.

Not fussy about it at first, but it grows on you... I like it!

That's how I feel exactly. :)

I should mention, due to the number of PM's, that neither rifle is for sale. The 6.5 Swede #1 was sold before we even had it unpacked and there is a waiting list for the M77 250 Savages(there is more coming, eventually). We may be able to get one more of the #1's. (M77's are $1079)

I think those rifles look good in that combo, but then again those two rifles would look classy in any just about all the variations. I probably wouldn't go for it on a plain jane hunting rifle. My 3 stainless hunting rifles all have black synthetic stocks on them as the finish was chosen for practicality of low maintenance.

Beautiful. I'm gettin' all misty...... I love the .250 Savage and the Number One as well. In line with always wanting Option C, I'd be most happy if the Number One were a .250.

This is a model 70 short action classic in 308. it has the featherweight contour barrel and came with the synthetic stock. I found a 1980s lightweight stock which was a perfect fit. |After bedding the recoil lug it is a fine shooter and weighs 7.6 lb scoped.

i see this year kimber is offering the 84m classic stainless model .i would be interested in a 7-08.

Another +1 on the Walnut/Stainless combo. I miss my CDL SF everyday that goes by :(.

Laminate/Stainless is a close second but doesn't compare on the ###y factor..
