Announced at SHOT Show 2015 - surprised that there's been so little coverage about this.
Guess I won't be needing to get that G36 look-a-like stock for my 10/22. :d

Takes the same mags as Walther's .22lr Colt M4 and HK416, which I have several of.... woot!

Here's hoping it it manages to come in as a non-restricted! (long shot I know)

What is the differen e between this and the Maurader/Nomad kit?

Hrmm.. off the top of my head:
- Functional safety. With the 10/22 kit, the safety is just for cosmetic purposes only. You'll still be using the 10/22's safety in the trigger guard.
- Functional ambidextrous charging handle. Ditto above...
- Don't need to mess with the mock mag sleave to get an authentic looking magazine.

We just applied for an FRT number for this rifle as we have a number of them in stock in the USA. Everything seemed to be going good. Now they want a sample... maybe well see these in two years :(

Good to hear the process to bring them up here has started. I'll be one of the first in line for these. :)

Anyway they can screw with gunowners or the process of new guns coming to market  Theres absolutely no reason the GSG Stg 44 shouldn't have been on the market for 5 years now other than the fact these overpaid Liberal bureaucrat douches don't want us to have it. This waste of tax dollars ( so called "lab") should axed asap

Any news on this?

Bit of a Necro but I emailed IRUNGUNS and they said it is prohibited.

IRUNGUNS EMAIL said:
Your Enquiry : Hi,\r\n\r\nI was wondering if there has been any progress with importing the walther G36 .22LR rifle into Canada.\r\n\r\nThank you.

Hey NAME,

Actually it is considered prohib still but we have an approval for the 5.56.. go figure lol. should you need anything else just let us know!

Isn't that mind boggling? The 416 is restricted but we can't even get the 22lr G36! Ugh.. this sucks hearing it's considered prohibited.

Email reads that it is still awaiting approval, fingers still crossed!
Which 5.56 version are they speaking of? Hk 243 perhaps.

I think in general there are civilian G36 rifles with semi only capability in existence and Canada has not sure how many but at least a dozen restricted (by length) and non-restricted G36 rifles in Canada right now.

EDIT: Not sure how firearms are classified but I assume if its not classified its not a default prohibit, just unclassified and thus unmarketable to Canada as it needs a class before sale. From what I understand reading IRUNGUNS draft letter to Steven Blaney
