Im looking into getting one of those Ex-German police Walther P1's in the near future, likely part of the batch that came in early last year. How are these pistols as far as relaibility and accuracy? I like the idea of having a P38 ( kind of) but cheaper and in much better shape.

Any thoughts?

I'm still kicking myself for trading my P1.

Where did you find a stash of those P1s? Two mags and a like new leather holster correct?

Unfortunately I didnt find any stashes, only one locally for sale privately. I still kick myself for not getting one with the holster and 2 mags from epps last january for 299.

My P1 is one of the post-war pistols made in France under license from Walther. The gun does not have the hexagonal pin to reduce the shock to the frame of recoil. I don't shoot all that much and have not had a problem, but the hesxagonal pin was introduced on later P1s and P4s because of problems arising from a lot use. If you plan to shoot a lot, and the pistol does not have the hexagonal pin, keep you ammunition at the lower end of the power spectrum. They're very nice pistols. Good luck with it.

I have one with the updated hex pin and fat slide which is apparently recommended if you are going to shoot it a lot and they are accurate and (to me) been reliable. I understand the german police ones do Not have the updates.
