a Walther P38, serial#3(X)(X)T, is this for sure a 9x19...or could it be another calibre (380, 9x18mm)? Has the nazi eagle proof stamp on right side and red/brown grips. Doesn't seem to want to cloe up on new 9mm ammo...could this be a length issue? I have heard that origional 9mm Luger ammo was shorter. Help.

I've only known the P.38 to come in 9mm para (perhaps .22 conversions). Feeding & reliability issues may be the result of a bad magazine. You may wish to check.

Edit: :D'oh: Yes, Tiriaq is correct. Some rather pricey models may be found in 7.65mm Luger (not that it's a good idea, but it would still chamber in a 9mm, correct?)

I believe that some were made in 7.65mm Luger. This should be pretty obvious, though, a .30 muzzle would look very different from 9mm, and there would be a caliber stamp as well.
