Does anyone know if p88's are prohib? I cant seem to find any anywhere. I know they are highly sought after, but when I ask about them at gun stores, the clerk's eyes usually glaze over and look at me like im crazy.

Yes, you're SOL unless you have prohib status.

They don't pop up very often, regardless. They were a fairly expensive pistol which ended up having teething problems (when they first came out with that decocker/slide release combo lever) so few got picked up in Canada making them fairly rare up here.

Combined, that accounts for the blank stare/kooky look, although I sometime get that from Canadian Tire clerks on simple .22 ammo. ;)

I still would have liked to try a P88 to form my own opinion as I really liked its looks and accuracy reputation.

Marstar used to carry the Bersa Thunder Nine (possibly still do but I can't find it on their site) which is said to be a somewhat similar P88 clone. It isn't prohib.

It has a barrel length of 102mm as does the Glock 19. Now if you could get a longer barrel for it then it would only be restricted. I say restricted as if that is a thing to be joyful about (a 2nd Amendment right here in Canada would be a normal free man's right).

Thanks for the help. I assumed they were prohib by the barrel length, but one guy at milarm told me a while ago they were just restricted. In hindsight, I assume now he was refering to the p99. I have a thing for walther pistols, but my p38 is kind of a piece of crap ( cant hit #### with it except my forehead, which gets hot brass bouncing of it) so I was gonna try for a p88. Guess im out of luck. Maybe ill try to get a CZ75, it would go nice with my 858.
