Hello,

I’m debating between these pistols. I’ve concluded both of these guns are pretty equal in most ways. One thing I have noticed though is that the walther is everywhere, and wondering if the walther has really picked up enough steam in the Canadian market. I always take into consideration the potential resale of all guns I get (even if they kill handguns off). I’d rather get the cz if more people are into it but what do you guys think?

Does anyone here own both?

I sold my P-10 F when I ordered my PDP without seeing one in person and regretted that decision once it got in my hand. Almost pulled the plug on my buyer's transfer LOL.

I just sold my PDP because I didn't like the grip profile. Yes the texture is nice and it feels well-made. Some people say the ergonomics are the best out there but regardless of the back strap sizes, it didn't feel good in my hand, with how the palm swell portion is shaped. The Walther is also very chunky, if looks matter to you. Some people obviously like that about them. The whole slide is made out of wider steel so it can have those monstrous slide cutouts up front for press checks and whatnot. The trigger on the Walther is slightly better than the stock CZ trigger, I'll give it that. But the CZ trigger is right up there as one of the best available out of the box as well.

The CZ ergos are as close to perfect as I could ever ask for and it's a more sleek looking gun overall, especially when you're looking down at it from the top, and the stock sights are steel and luminescent (or tritium) whereas the Walther sights are plastic trash you'll likely want to or need to replace. The only knock on the CZ these days is that the price keeps going up. There are clever little design details on the CZ like the grip on the side of the frame in front of the trigger guard that I really like. Is the OR version worth spending the extra $50 over the Walther?

I think the Walther has more features, and their marketing is all about how it was designed from the ground up to be an optics-optimized firearm, where the OR versions of the CZ guns is like the Glock MOS - the optic mounting was an after-thought to keep up with market trends but really doesn't change anything aside from a slide-cutout.

Bought a P-10 SC (C frame with F slide) and sold my PDP to a friend so I can still play around with it from time to time.

Sorry for rambling but handguns become an extension of your hand and it's very personal. For whatever reason people are sleeping on both models so you might find a store that has both in stock to look at in person. You will have a much easier time finding parts and accessories for the CZ, as well as holster options. There's almost nothing out there for the PDP. Mags seem to be in short supply due to the panic buying but their stock will settle out after the summer I'm sure.

I think everyone is looking at the potential for a forever gun and thinking get a Shadow 2 or a PDP Pro.

I think these will start to move as the deadline draws nearer.

Also, lots of coloured models are available. Call me boring, but I think non coloured ones sell better.

Yeah if the PDP Pro SD actually makes it up here, I'd jump on board for the trigger and magwell upgrades, as long as the price stays at ~$1050. But, if the freeze comes into effect on October 1, with normally slow provinces like BC with 25,000 backlogged transfers - that's 6-8 weeks for approvals.. and that takes us from right now, up til the last week of September. I think if you live in Ontario, there's no point in even hoping to get one approved in time if you bought today.

Siwash Sports has several of the CZ P-10 models in stock, Sig X5 Legion in stock and they had a Sig P226 Legion on the shelf in store but not listed on the site as well, as of yesterday. Maybe not the best prices, but not the worst either. A guy in Burnaby has the P-10 F OR listed for $900 shipped BNIB which is a pretty good deal considering the recent price hikes. But it's green.

I would have gotten a cz p10 if I could have gotten an optic ready one for a reasonable price. But every place wants 999 or more for them plus you have to buy an optics plate for them. The pdp you get one free one at least and I got my pdp for a lot cheaper due to the flash sale at sfrc. 899.70 I think taxes and shipping included.

My P10F OR was considerably less than $1K through IRG a couple of years ago. As mentioned, both pistols are quite close in terms of features and attributes. In terms of ergonomics I find the P10F Grip to be excessively long, but as I am not trying to carry concealed in Canada there is no real down-side. The PDP grip fits me well and I find it's contours to be more comfortable than the CZ Grip.

If I had to choose, I'd go with the PDP's superior ergonomics and (slightly) better Trigger. But it is close, very close between the PDP and the P10F OR.

yeah the F grip is almost obnoxiously long like the Springfield XDM Elite but they’re made to fit 20+rounds in freedom country. I bought the SC for the smaller grip profile, kind of sucks none of the dealers got the OR versions in.

If you happen to be leaning towards the Walther, Wolverine has all 3 colours for the best current price. They also have the Canik Rival ;)
