Walther PP help

Hi Everybody,

I recently picked up a Walther PP and PPK and took them apart to clean them. I can not get the slide back on the PP, no matter what I try. The slide will just not go back far enough for it to drop into the frame. (The recoil spring is in the proper direction.)

I feel like I'm missing something obvious. If someone can explain what stupid thing I'm doing to prevent it from working that would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the gun is cocked, and the trigger guard is all the way down (Open)as when it was disassembled.

Also make sure that the bigger end of the recoil spring is towards the front (muzzle) of the gun.

If that doesn't do it, there must be something not reassembled right, depending on how far down you stripped it.

Just a field strip.

It was together when it arrived. Took the slide off and did a good surface clean. Now won't go back together.

yup been there done that I would suggest finding and watching a strip and reassemble video its probably something very simple that you just don't notice
 
Went back to zero and redid everything I did before, using that video as a reference, and it popped on. Not sure why/how... But I'll take it.
