Why the 5" slide? Is the base US version a prohib?

the 4" is, the Navy version is 4.2" and Kanada legal. I'm not a high speed tacticool operator, so a threaded muzzle isn't needed. 5" gives a longer sight radius for shooting games.

Navy version in 4.6", not 4.2", and I have it (in my Avatar, actually, for my cheesy Movember pic, pic below is Google find of same thing).

Currently looking at ways to shave off as much as I can to get it closer to the 106mm point, which would make it much closer to flush, but lose the threads (fine by me).
