Walther PPQ M5 Match/Shield Combo compatible with other RMR’S?

Do any of you know if the Walther PPQ M5 Match/shield combo is compatible with other RMR’S? Is it as simple as just buying a mounting plate for optic of choice? Or is cut out on slide specifically designed for the Shield RMS?
 
My understanding is that it is specifically milled for the Shield optic. If you want to mount an RMR you would be better to buy the regular Q5 match which comes with the required adapter plate.
