Walther PPQ Navy - Anyone have any input, good or bad?

The title pretty much sums it up, but since I'm grilling steaks and seem to be fairly well along in the bourbon I figure I'll ramble on a bit. Looking for some feedback from owners and test pilots on the Navy version of Walther's PPQ. Read some reviews, searched CGN, watched the youtubes, now I'm looking for more... I figure I need a polymer framed 9mm in the collection and this seems like as good a rig as any.

Feel free to offer up other suggestions, I'm fairly open-minded given my angry redneck heritage. Heck, if you think I should get the Navy AND another plastic-fantastic 9mm I could be easily persuaded to buy two pistols! What a great guy, amiright?

Also, in case it matters, the bourbon is Rock Hill Farms single barrel, the steaks are N.Y. Striploins (montreal-style spice of my own design), the sides are baked potatoes and grilled asparagus, and the cooker is a Kamado Joe burning Basques lump charcoal. :)

I haven't shot one yet but I plan to make some room in the safe for one in the near future.....

also, i havent shot it but i was drooling over it at a local shop yesterday...it is the most comfortable pistol i have ever held. im just trying to find out what the regular PPQ is worth in comparison.
 
just finished my restricted course and as soon as a get my pal i am seriously considering getting a PPQ as my first handgun. all the reviews i have read seem great and as a lefty shooter the fact that walther doesnt screw over my 7% of the population is great too.
 
I really enjoy my PPQ. It feels great in the hand, I love the controls. I had a few initial hiccups with mine, I think it was due to putting too much oil on the firing pin and getting it gummed up, but it works fine now that the excess is out.

The only downside is the scarcity of magazines. No one seems to have stock, or can provide a definite date for when more mags will be available due to the borked American market.

You should never put any oil on the firing pin.
 
yea im pretty much sold. just a couple months-ish and counting (damn paperwork taking forever) and im going to get one of those in my hands. if only you didnt need that ugly extended barrel sticking out the front. such a ###y gun without it.
 
It's a pretty ugly gun but it feels good to shoot. It feels like a Glock with a good trigger to me. Mags are tough to find though.....
 
The barrel is long enough that if you get a gunsmith to cut off the threaded portion it will still be legal.
 
I like mine,

only polymer gun I really like and shoot well.

I'm used to have steel guns and still prefer my Jericho. This one though I shoot well and it fits my hand nicely.
I never warmed up to my Glock, even the gen 4 with (finally) interchangeable back straps. Before that Glocks were just too big for me.

I also like the PPQ sights and mine is very accurate.

Not sure about the funky mag release yet and I have no idea how this would go over in IPSC or IDPA. May be an experienced RO can chime in on this.
I'm using the index finger, with my trigger finger out, straight and against the frame. I suspect that this could be an issue in IPSC though.

FInding holster, spare mags is a bit of an issue for now too.

Oh and finally mine eats any ammo I've fed it (and because I am a cheap bastard that includes anything from nice Wolf to Norinco, Blazer Alu and MFS steel).
