Just read a post on IPSC Ontario that the Walther Q5 Match steel frame will be able to be used in IPSC Production division with the large factory magwell. Now let the wait begin .

Interesting. I would imagine since its not a modification, it would be allowed according to 17.1 . I heard Taran Tactical is making them, but the pro version does not seem to be available for pre order yet, and I'm not waiting. It does satisfy the rule as it comes from the factory with the magwell. Just like all the stuff CZ guys are installing on their shadows because it is offered from the factory. Fair is fair.

Sweet! Was wondering if our IPSC Fathers would approve the magwell version.

Still a big CZ S2 fanboy and it will be a tough sell for me to switch, but happy to give it a look in IPSC ...at some point. For me think the PPQ Match SF Pro will really shine in 3 Gun. Steel frame striker fire with oversized magwell and my current PPQ M2 polymer mags fit. Sweet! Sweet! Sweet!

Well I'll be damned. When I saw the the pro version I thought for sure they wouldn't allow it in production. I just took a look at the production list and they had the "PPQ Q5 Match SF Champion" listed. Too bad the standard PPQ mags don't fit.

I ordered a bunch from Northern Republic for shooting in the States but way too much trouble dealing with the rivet since it needs to be ground almost flush for the mags to fit. So the rivet just stays in. They are also production legal so I might as well change the rest to match.

So now the talk is that the Pro model with the magwell may not be approved for Production. I guess we wait and see.
I heard that the Champion model will be approved, but WITHOUT the magwell, as it is a removable part. Still awaiting for something official to be announced regarding the mag well........
Either way, it looks like it will be a fantastic gun for Production and for Production Optics. Not too sure though if I want to fork out the $2K price tag :(

The price for the Pro or Champion if you prefer likely will be closer to $2,300Cdn. Might be an expensive magwell, mind you you would get the extended magazines pinned to 10rds.

Take Care
