We just got in the Remington 700 5R Gen 2s and they're LOADED with features, this certainly makes picking your next precision rifle that much easier! This model has a 20" fluted, threaded barrel of stainless steel with a black cerakote finish. The lightweight tan HS Precision stock with raised black webbing has just the right amount of grip texture to it. The oversized tactical bolt handle allows for positive control of the smooth operating action, and the X-Mark Pro trigger breaks nice and crisp with no slack or extra travel. Bang for your buck this is one of the best platforms for getting into serious precision shooting, and these guns are capable of outperforming far more expensive setups. Beautiful! If I didn't get the 24" version a couple of months ago I'd be all over that. They are incredible shooters for sure. I turned the 24" version into a tactical / target rifle, it comes in at 12.25 pounds scoped. I would love to setup the 20" version with a light scope at under 9 pounds total. Would make for one of the most accurate and versatile rifles around.

Stainless steel under a very nice and slick black cerakote finish. The main difference between the Gen2 and the previous model is the flutes which are also very nice. It's still a thick barrel, .820" OD at the muzzle.
 
Hi Wanstalls; do you have a link to this rifle on the Remington site? Cant seem to find in at their regular site or a Remington defense. I`ve done a search for Rem part number 85196 with no luck.85196

The previous Rem700 5R rifles were never available in left handed so it would be nice if the GEN2 were. I ended up making my own lefty version by getting a Rem700 5R take off barrel and a left handed action. Gunsmith trued the action, set the headspacing and other install work.

They are not so-called "regular" production so there is no listing on the Remington sites. There are a LOT of other sites which do have info and reviews. Search for "85196 remington".
