This Finnish firearm was used to fight off Soviet Forces during the winter war of 1940 and showed the world the importance of sub-machine guns to modern warfare. Used by mostly Finnish and Swedish armies, it was also widely exported into Baltic countries, some European and South American countries. Although manufacturing of the Suomi in Finland ceased in 1944, it was widely used throughout the world well into the 1990’s. This Suomi M31 has been converted to Semi-Automatic and fires 9mm parabellum rounds from a 36 round stick magazine.

We've got not only the M31s, but also drum mags, and 12.4" barrels available!

TNW KP-31 Suomi 9mm (Non-Restricted)
Suomi 5/71 Drum Mag 9mm
Suomi M31 12.4" Barrel

Here's one with the 12.4" barrel installed, barrel switches take about 30 seconds...

I really enjoy mine. Seems though my barrel shroud/handguard is a little different than the one I see you have. Mine has an angled backcut to it.

I see a barrel in my future.

Any chance on just a shroud/handguard?

So if you order one with an 18.5 in barrel and a spare 12, inch barrel it still ships as non restricted right? It only because restricted when you take 30 seconds to switch out the barrel?

Any issues I've had were on my end, in "cleanliness". I'm normally quite OCD about that, but slip here and there.

I've only fired AE in it, but zero issues with that ammo. I fill the sticks, pull the trigger, it spits them out. Never tried a drum (I don't have one), so can't comment on that.

Eats Barnaul junk ammo, so it can probably shoot whatever else you like to shoot too. I just need more mags for this heavy "little" monster! I mean, a mount for a red dot would be nice too, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I know older m31s had an issue with barrels and shrouds falling off. Has this problem been rectified? Really its the only thing stopping me from getting one is that issue..

Personally, I have not had the problem, and fairly sure I have one of the older models.

If you understand the barrel removes, that would be my suspicion as to the nature of said problem. I think it is a very generous assessment to say a barrel change takes 30 seconds. Probably 15, unhurried.

The way the shroud locks the barrel in place, and the shroud latch, I would think could be a weak point, if not inspected. If the shroud is securely latched, it would need to be catastrophic failure, for the barrel to "fall off".

Let's see what Wanstall's says.

Back from the break here, thanks for you patience

Sunchild has the right of it here, you should not experience this issue unless the locking mechanism of the shroud latch were somehow compromised or not properly locked, these ones are just great

Are the 12.4" barrels original Finnish (Suomi) surplus, or new from TNW?
If surplus, what is the condition of the bores?

Original Finnish - blued, bores are in good shape, these are accurate little carbines
