I'm looking for a place to take the IDPA new shooter orientation course. I live in North Bay so I would be willing to travel to take the course (about 2 hrs traveling time would be OK).

I was told that someone would come to my club to teach the course if we have enough interest. But it's not going to happen so I have to travel to do it.

Hope someone can help me.

how many people are interested in the course at your local club? and if no one in North Bay shoots idpa what good is it taking the course?

not that im trying to turn away a new shooter but idpa is a lot like ###, better done with more then one person.

If you can put a group of people together and secure a facility, then hedgehog and I will come and teach it. If not, would you be willing to travel this way to take the course?

The facilities is not the problem its the lack of interest that's the problem. I take it your based in Oshawa? It's a little farther than I would like, but I would seriously think about going down.

Thank for the offer I appreciate it.

If no one in NB is interested then doesn't this mean you'll be driving a heck of a distance to enter matches then? If so why the reluctance to drive to the orientation course?

Another person to contact is RePete, he is in Renfrew, but more then willing to teach a course, also you must be an IDPA affiliated club to shoot IDPA matches.

There is a club in Sudbury that is starting to run ODPL matches. Not IDPA but same game by a different name. I have the upmost respect for Steve David and the work that he is doing and all the good folks running IDPA in Ontario. Just a suggestion.

If there are no IDPA clubs in your area maybe you should be checking out IPSC?

I shot IDPA for a year and just started IPSC this year. Both sports are fun and both are set up so that you can be 'competitive" within your own classification.

Don't get hung up on one or the other until you actually try them.

Boo!!!!

you surprize me john ;) ;)

I know.....this common sense approach is so unlike me:D

I just wish the cowboy shooting wasn't so far away. That is what I wanted to do but it is so far away:(

That is why I got into IDPA...closer and more opportunity to shoot:D

Which then brought me to try IPSC due to the availabilty of sanctioned matches. More intense level of competition and another great bunch of guys to shoot with.:dancingbanana: So far I am loving it.

My thinking was it can only improve my IDPA performance by having more trigger time under the self imposed stress of competition. What I am finding is I am enjoying it even more than I thought I would.

Just another youngster nipping at me heels Wes. John can make his M&P rock and roll. Going to have to nip his archilles tendon I think. Might slow him down a touch.:D

its ok bob, you compete in the seniors division so you don't have to worry about john catching you anytime soon....

He will, it is inevitiable. So will you Wes and if I live as long as the rest of my family you may even be at the gates to greet me. Don't see a Seniors Division in IDPA Wes, you got a page number for that.

Take Care
